Choose Your Hashtags Wisely
Hashtags are used quite frequently in today’s society especially with the development of social media. We find ourselves constantly using hashtags to help us get our content out there, not just to those who are in our social network, but to those that expand beyond our city, province or even country. Hashtags are universal and help us connect with others who are interested in the same things you are whether that is travel, food or sports.
Hashtags can be great for searching content related to specific topics as I mentioned earlier, it allows you to connect with those who want to express an opinion on a subject. Examples of where you can use hashtags are Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, and Instagram.
Hashtags allow us to become more visible to others on social media platforms and search engines. Just as a side note if you are running an event it is great to come up with a hashtag that people can use while at the event. This can be used to later evaluate how successful your event was. By simple click or search for a hashtag on any social network will allow the user to see who is engaging in conversation with that particular hashtag. This automatically gives the user a snapshot of the audience and their common interest. The possibilities of hashtags are endless and can be leveraged on many different social platforms.
Interestingly enough you can now register your very own hashtags on Hashtag.org which also provides tracking. Although you can’t prevent others from using the hashtag, it may be useful to claim a hashtag that could be integral to the discussion around a trademark, promotional campaign, or event.
